Today, they’re not so tired, they’ve already eaten breakfast and they’re not expecting any phone calls from the US. They all have chavrusos, the avirah d’mach’kim of Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh, a seviva that’s conducive to learning and top tier shiurim throughout the day. Let’s now immerse ourselves in the yam shel Torah and shteig. These are the sentiments that have been echoed by over two hundred lomdim here in the Yarchei Kallah beis hamedrash as we continue our coverage of day two of Agudas Yisrael’s Yarchei Kallah in Yerushalayim.
The shiur iyun with Harav Dovid Cohen, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshivas Chevron, was now only three hours away, and this was critical preparation time. The ris’cha d’Oraisa in the beis medrash was palpable. What a sight to behold, lomdim of all ages, from all walks of life, excitedly engaged in the sugya d’kalla. Such contentment, such hana’a ruchani, what a breath of fresh air! Harav Cohen’s shiur probed ever deeper into the Sugya d’kalah. HaRav Cohen examined the chilukim in dinei kadima b’brochos, highlighting some of the important opinions of the rishonim, demonstrating an amazing breadth and depth of insight into the Sugya.
A special English track, inaugurated this year was addressed by Rav Shlomo Morgenstern, Rosh HaYeshiva, Givat Zev. Rav Morgenstern delighted the participants and engaged them in an animated discussion on the brachos relating to shemen zayis.
Rav Nissan Kaplan, a noted magid shiur in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, delivered a fascinating halacha shiur that turned the Gemoros, Rishonim and Acharonim learned so far into halacha lemaaseh. He challenged the lomdim, citing multiple practical applications of the Sugya dkalah that affect our daily lives. The shiur was lively from beginning to end, with the participant’s excitedly interjecting at numerous points. The participants lined up to ask questions for over an hour after the shiur.
The lomdim were then addressed by Harav Yitzchak Meir Alter, the son of the Pnei Menachem, Rosh Kollel Gur in Bnei Brak and HaRav Moshe Chodosh, Rosh Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon, who delivered profound messages of chizuk and hisorerus.
The women’s program was treated to a trip to Kever Rochel followed by a fascinating tour of Yerushalayim. In the afternoon, they were addressed by the renowned speaker Rebbezin Rina Tarshish.
