yossi-pressburgerDear Editor,

The dinner of Agudas Yisroel Snif Zichron Shmuel, which is under the leadership of Rav Eliezer Ginsburg, will be held tonight.

Some will ask, “What is special about a shul dinner?” The answer is that this year, the shul‘s dinner is being held l’zeicher nishmas Reb Yosef Pressburger z”l. It would be hard for me to believe that there is someone out there who reads your fine paper and did not hear of Reb Yosef Eliezer ben hachover Mordechai, as he has made such an impression on all who were zocheh to know him personally and even to those who had just heard of him after his petirah, as so many letters and articles have been published about him right here in your newspaper.

In a letter that Mrs. Pressburger wrote to the shul members, family, relatives and friends, she recalled the sterling way he led his life, which continues to be an inspiration to all of us. As she wrote, Reb Yossi is still living on with us as we try to follow in his special ways.

The shul was definitely a central part of Reb Yossi’s life. This was clearly evident by his sheer enjoyment of going to daven at the Agudah and attending the various shiurim. As the devoted gabbai rishon for many years, Reb Yossi treated everyone with dignity and respect. He was attentive to all the meticulous details so that the shul would run smoothly and efficiently.

Even on the last day of his life, while traveling on business, the shul was never far from his mind. A mere few hours before his petirah, with one effective phone call, he made sure that the steps to the shul were cleared from the winter ice.

It would certainly be a great zechus for Reb Yossi, the perennial dinner chairman, if people would join us at the annual dinner of Agudas Yisroel Snif Zichron Shmuel and participate in the shul‘s dinner journal.

The dinner will iy”H take place tonight at the Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin Montag Hall, located at 911 East 13thStreet in Brooklyn. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Minchah at 7:15 p.m. and the dinner at 7:30 p.m.

May we only share simchos and be zocheh to hear, in the very near future, the Tekiah Gedolah that we are all waiting for.
