nyc-subwayIn a letter to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Agudath Israel of America executive vice president Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel lauded the Cuomo Administration’s strong response to a highly offensive advertising campaign currently running in subway cars across New York City.

That response came in the form of a letter from Howard Glaser, Governor Cuomo’s director of state operations, to Tom Prendergast, chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, pointing out that the MTA’s advertising standards need to reflect the fact that mass transit is used by countless children every day.

The MTA, for its part, has agreed to undertake a review of its standards.

Rabbi Zwiebel’s letter recounts Agudath Israel’s longstanding involvement in this issue, and concludes with an expression of “profound gratitude” for the Governor’s readiness “to speak out when lines of decency and propriety are transgressed.”

Rabbi Zwiebel’s letter can be seen in its entirety here.
