taking-down-sukkahOn this Motzoei Shabbos following a beautiful Yom Tov, as we bid farewell to the chag, we’d like to wish all of our readers ah gutten vinter. As you take down your sukkahs tonight and resume your regular routine, try to hold on to the warmth and inspiration of the Zeman Simchaseinu and Simchas Torah as you head into the long days of winter. The winter is representative of the lengthy golus in which we find ourselves, and just as we try to hold on to the warmth of summer as we endure the dark days of winter, we likewise try to hold on to the uplifting moments of our lives to help us get through this long and bitter exile.

We pray that all of Klal Yisroel merit only bracha and yeshuos during this season, and may we be zoche to greet Moshiach, bimeherirah beyomeinu, speedily, in our day.

Ah gutten vinter!

  1. Oy,more nonsense. The winter is winter, and is not representative of our long golus. What IS representative of our golus mentality is that Jews remain in chutz la’aretz and refuse to come Home. Besides, the nights in winter are long, not the days. Sorry for pointing out the wrong metaphor and ruining the poetry.

    Bimeherirah beyomeinu? Sigh…

  2. Problem is that Israel is an insane asylum, run by morons, with hate-filled extremists who can’t leave people alone to live their lives. Sorry about not coming “Home” just yet. Some American Jews in Israel like living among other Americans, so they live in Ramat Bet Shemesh. But I like to live with Israelis, so I live in New York.
