yerushalayimFor the first time since the Hamas terrorist organization took over Gaza and began firing their barrage of rockets towards Eretz Yisroel, an air raid siren was sounded in Yerushalayim this afternoon.

This is the first time the holy city has ever been targeted by rockets fired by Gaza terrorists.

There are conflicting reports, with some stating that the rocket fell north of Yerushalayim and others saying it landed south of Yerushalayim. Reliable sources say that the rocket hit the Yehudah and Shomron, specifically the city of Gush Etzion, just south of Yerushalayim.

There are no reported injuries or damages.

Terrorists have launched several rockets into Tel Aviv since an Israeli offensive was launched in the Gaza Strip yesterday.

Hamas immediately took credit for today’s Yerushalayim attack, stating that they shot “an improved Kassam.”

Yerushalayim Mayor Nir Barkat urged residents to listen to Home Front Command orders and to carry on with routine life. “The municipality is prepared for all scenarios and the public bomb shelters are ready in case we need to open them,” he told Yediot Achronot.

  1. Prayers for the peace of the Holy City, Judea and Samaria/The West Bank, the State of Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. A thought for all to consider as shabbat commences in Jerusalem…A child becomes an adult. An adult becomes a partnership. A partnership becomes a family. A family becomes a community. A community becomes a city. A city becomes a nation. A nation becomes the world. Which world do we want live in ? Peaceworld or Traumaworld.

    Shabbat Shalom.

  2. It was sometime after shkiah that the siren went off. I was in a chassidish minyan that was still davening mincha. No in the shul move and everyone continued to daven normally (those that still were davening.) Those that weren’t walked outside to see what was going (!!) Later I spoke to others that all had different experiences. The woman and children left in my building I heard ran into the bomb shelter (my wife not realizing what was the right thing to do went into a room inside of the apartment away from windows.) I heard in one packed shul everyone crowded into the bomb shelter for about 10 min until proceeded to daven afterwards. I heard many that were on the street ran into buildings. However i think most carried on with life realizing that our area (the “frum” part of Jerusalem) wasn’t under attack Baruch HaShem.
