Airbnb Announces Plans To Go Public In 2020

Airbnb announced Thursday that it intends to finally go public next year.

“Airbnb, Inc. announced today that it expects to become a publicly-traded company during 2020,” the San Francisco-based company said in a press release, posted on its website.

This ends years of guessing and speculation as to when the company would enter the public market, even after the company’s CEO, Brian Chesky, said in April that he would be ready to take it public as soon as this year.

“As our community has grown, our business has thrived,” the company said in a separate statement, noting, perhaps in an effort to court Wall Street investors weary of unicorns, that it raked in “substantially more” than $1 billion in revenue in the second quarter of this year.
