The Israel Police has launched an urgent fraud investigation after more than 2,000 Jews intending to travel to Uman, Ukraine, for Rosh Hashanah are suspected to have been deceived into paying for tickets that never materialized.

Authorities launched the investigation after receiving complaints by two individuals who purchased tickets worth $635 each from the “Europnim” travel company.

One day ahead of the scheduled flight to Uman, the company informed travelers that it would not be able to fulfill the booking. The tickets were cancelled but the money was not returned. The fraud is suspected of cheating customers out of $1.3 million.

  1. How about – STAY HOME WITH YOUR FAMILIES ON ROSH HASHANA, DAVEN TOGETHER WITH YOUR CHILDREN, HELP YOUR WIFE WITH MAKING YOM-TOV!

    • Why don’t you say the same to those travelling to Chabad in NY, to the Belzer Rebbe, Viznitzer Rebbes, Bobover Rebbes and other Rebbes shlit”a?

        • Is the Lubavitcher Rebbe still around?

Besides, even if they’re human beings, they’re still leaving their wives and children behind. So what exactly is the difference between a Rebbe that’s alive and one that’s not? They’re both being mishtadel for their chassidim – one in Heaven and one on earth.

        • Hey Dacon, stop with the Sefardi nationalism. There are no Ashkenazim and Sefardim, only Yehudim. “Yiden” is just a word in judeo german meaning Yehidim. If you complaint is that we should all be speaking Loshon Hakodesh instead of Yidish, then quit speaking English – another germanic language. Otherwise, don’t make a big deal out of nothing.

  2. I don’t have an opinion or an agenda but I am curious as to whether these commentators have or would go to a championship game and leave their wives at home just wondering

  3. A great Tzaddik once said, Yiddishe Neshamos can feel kedusha and therefore, even without understanding why they spend a lot of money on 4 minim (when they could get away cheap, or borrow).
When you see tens of thousands of yiden doing a davar shebikdusha, it must be a calling of the Neshama
