al-qaedaIn the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, al Qaeda has developed a sophisticated online education for followers to plan smaller-scale attacks, reveals a new report in the The New York Times.

The master of homegrown education in America-who may have been the Tsarnaev brothers’ inspiration-is the late Samir Khan, an American member of al Qaeda killed in a 2011 drone strike.

“I strongly recommend all of the brothers and sisters coming from the West to consider attacking America in its own backyard,” Khan wrote in an online tutorial. The living suspect of the Boston attack, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, remains in a medical prison facility. Read more at The New York Times.
