Close to $300,000 in cash was stolen from the HSBC Bank branch on 13th Avenue in Borough Park over the weekend, sources familiar with the investigation told JP UPDATES.

Police say they were called Monday morning shortly after 8:00 a.m to a report of a bank burglary at 4410 13th Avenue. Upon arrival they were informed by the bank’s branch manager that some suspects had broken into the bank through the roof over the weekend and stole $280,000.

Inside the bank, several savings bank deposits were stolen.

NYPD Major Case Squad Detectives are investigating the burglary.

The burglary took place sometime between Friday night, when the bank closed, and Monday morning, when it opened following the weekend. But investigators believe it occurred sometime late Friday night, when the streets in Borough Park are quiet due to shabbos.

The alarm system was off because it was broken. Detectives are looking into the possibility that it was an inside job, a source said.

A ladder used to get inside the bank was found on the building’s roof. Read more at JP UPDATES.

  1. What so hard to catch these guys. All you need is to look at the corner cameras and see who walked or drove by Friday night.
