(Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc said Thursday it will not move forward with plans to build a headquarters in New York after rising opposition from local politicians.

Amazon had announced it would create 25,000 jobs and build one of two new headquarters based in the Long Island City neighborhood in the borough of Queens, just across the East River from Manhattan.

The proposal ran into opposition from local politicians who opposed the $2.8-billion in incentives promised to Amazon in a deal secretly negotiated by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

  1. 70% of New Yorkers, approved this deal. 10 elected representative (representing their own pockets and the pockets of their handlers) said fooey on you New York. Aren’t you glad you trust the trash-cans who push you to vote for these obscenities? Remember at birth abortion is much more important than job creation in the NY State political frame of mind. Reuben Diaz should be nominated as a living saint.

  2. It’s amazing how stupid these politicians are! I’m no fan of amazon and what they’ve done to brick and mortar, but this HQ promises to bring 25,000 high paying jobs which in turn will bring all the other lower paying jobs for the things that these 25K will need. The tax base and revenue will grow tremendously. The city will make back their 3B handout 10 times over!
G-D help us all from the liberals running this city. What is took Giuliani and Bloomberg to fix and build in 20 years, these idiots will destroy

  3. Thank You Mr. beezos for showing strength !!!!!!!!! Hatzlocho in the city that WILL APPRECIATE your kindness in creating 25,000 NEW JOBS./……
