During a celebratory gathering for Samaria’s community leadership, which drew hundreds of residents and officials, Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan presented U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee with an honorary citizenship certificate on behalf of the council.
In his remarks, Dagan said it was a privilege to give the honor to “our brother,” stressing that Huckabee is the first U.S. ambassador ever to receive such recognition from the council. He explained that the document is not just symbolic but represents shared purpose. Dagan emphasized that strengthening the Land of the Bible and affirming sovereignty throughout Judea and Samaria is not only historically justified but also a critical matter for Israel, the United States, and the broader free world.
Speaking further, Dagan said he wanted, on behalf of the people of Samaria, to extend a blessing to both Huckabee and President Donald Trump. He drew upon the Torah’s promise to Avrohom that those who bless Israel will themselves be blessed. Dagan affirmed that since Huckabee blesses Israel, he too will merit blessing from God, adding words of love and gratitude for him.
Ambassador Huckabee expressed his appreciation, calling Dagan a longtime friend of courage and foresight. He noted that he has met with Dagan many times to discuss his hopes for Samaria and its future potential. Huckabee also referenced the council’s initiative about using proper terminology, highlighting that “80% of the Bible focuses on Judea and Samaria.” He remarked that many are unaware of this reality and said the use of the land’s ancient names, Judea and Samaria, should be restored.
Turning to the assembled community leaders, Huckabee acknowledged the challenges and personal sacrifices they make by choosing to live in Samaria. He called their presence an act of great dedication. He said that while some may not understand why they live there, he personally cannot see why anyone would not want to. Huckabee concluded by honoring their devotion and applauding their determination to return home to Samaria.
