Amid heightened tensions with Iran, Israel’s defense minister emphasized on Monday that the IDF was prepared for “any scenario.”

“We have no interest in escalation, but we’re ready…that’s our job,” Avigdor Lieberman said at a Yisrael Beiteinu faction meeting, a day after Israeli media outlets — citing defense officials — reported on an Iranian plan to launch a missile strike on IDF targets in northern Israel.

“There is no place for hysteria or panic,” Lieberman noted. “Yes, there is a complex situation with many challenges and threats, and we’ll know how to deal with all the threats and handle all the challenges.”

The Tehran regime blamed Israel for an April 9 air strike in Syria in which seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed and vowed retaliation.

On Monday, Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz, of the ruling Likud party, warned that Israel could topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in response to any Iranian attack on it from Syria.
