Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offered a brutal assessment of Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 campaign for president, saying excuses such as “misogyny” among the electorate were “stupid” and placed the blame for her historic defeat on Clinton alone.
“I’m not trying to be difficult. I’m not trying to be down. But she didn’t try hard enough in Michigan,” AOC said during a 2016 Facebook live video taken while traveling through the midwest with friends. “She didn’t make a single … visit to the United Auto Workers before the general election. And then … they’re like upset that that union workers didn’t organize for her.”
AOC’s fellow traveler, actress Maria Swisher, said, “We needed to win the rust belt and we could have done that and there are places that went for Obama that didn’t go for Hillary so there is a lot of complex things going on here.”
