Apple Inc. filed court papers on Thursday to protest a judge’s order requesting that the company assist in the process of opening the locked phone of San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook.
The company claimed that the federal government is violating its 1st and 5th Amendment rights.
“This is not a case about one isolated iPhone,” the company’s motion said. “Rather, this case is about the Department of Justice and the FBI seeking through the courts a dangerous power that Congress and the American people have withheld: the ability to force companies like Apple to undermine the basic security and privacy interests of hundreds of millions of individuals around the globe.” Read more at the Los Angeles Times.

It is all a cynical ploy to grab away whatever little privacy is left in our phones. If FBI really wanted to catch various Muslim terrorists in this country, they would have done so based on the wealth of information they already possess.
