Apple’s iPhone voice-to-text function has been producing an unexpected result when users dictate the word “racist” into their devices. Reports indicate that, on some occasions, the text briefly displays the word “Trump” before correcting itself. The tech company acknowledges the problem and has assured users that it is actively working on a solution.
Numerous iPhone owners have shared videos online, capturing the voice-to-text feature in action as they speak the word “racist” into their devices. In these recordings, the word “Trump” appears momentarily before being replaced with the intended text. Breitbart News has verified this phenomenon across several individual iPhones, confirming its prevalence.
Although the issue does not manifest every single time the word “racist” is spoken, it has occurred frequently enough to raise concerns. In one test case, an iPhone user repeated the word five times, and on three of those occasions, the device incorrectly displayed “Trump” before adjusting to the intended word.

On Tuesday afternoon, Breitbart News successfully replicated the issue multiple times. When the word “racist” was dictated into the iPhone’s speech-to-text tool, “Trump” momentarily flashed on the screen before being corrected to the proper term.
“We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers Dictation, and we are rolling out a fix as soon as possible,” an Apple representative stated in a response to Fox News.
Apple further explained that its voice recognition software may sometimes temporarily produce words that have phonetic similarities before settling on the correct one. The company insisted that this is a broader issue affecting various words that contain an “r” consonant. However, this explanation has been met with skepticism, as the words “Trump” and “racist” sound distinctly different.
This is not the first time a major technology company has come under scrutiny over incidents perceived as politically charged. In a previous controversy reported by Breitbart News last September, an Amazon Alexa user discovered that the voice assistant was willing to provide reasons to support then-Vice President Kamala Harris in an election but declined to answer when asked the same question about Donald Trump.
