This is a true and heartbreaking story from a young woman who is struggling to gather the finances she needs to get married this month. A small group of brides & grooms who have lived their whole lives in poverty after losing their parents have been approved for this month’s Vaad HaRabbanim Hachnosas Kallah Fund. Their stories were brought to Rosh Yeshiva of Or Hachaim Rav Reuven Elbaz, a massive Gadol in Eretz Yisroel who is renowned for his Gadlus across the globe. “Whoever takes it upon themselves to give with a good and generous heart to marry off an orphan, it is a tremendous incomparable zechus. They are lucky! And they will be blessed from on High…I bless you with all my heart, may Hashem be with you wherever you go. You should be wise and successful. You should live long and healthy years to serve Him. Hashem should give endless abundance to you and your whole family.”
It is clear that Rav Elbaz understands the true importance of the mitzvah of helping poor brides, and how important it is to help these Jewish girls who have no parents to help them start their lives. This upcoming month, Shevy and 7 other orphans will either get married and be able to finally have families to call their own- Or they will crumble under the burden.
