At the stroke of midnight on Wednesday, as 2025 began, sirens were heard in Netivot and the surrounding regions. According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, two rockets were detected crossing from the central Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. One of the rockets was intercepted successfully, while the other landed in an open area. Hamas later took responsibility for the attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, around 12:20 p.m., sirens were activated in communities near the Gaza Strip. The IDF reported that a projectile was launched from southern Gaza toward Israel, prompting the launch of an interceptor missile. Thankfully, there were no injuries from this incident.

Later on Tuesday, the IDF announced that the Israeli Air Force had carried out an intelligence-based airstrike, targeting and eliminating Abd al-Hadi Sabah, a Nukhba Platoon Commander in the Western Khan Yunis Battalion. Sabah had been operating from a shelter in the Humanitarian Area in Khan Yunis.

Abd al-Hadi Sabah was involved in orchestrating the deadly October 7th Massacre, particularly leading the infiltration into Kibbutz Nir Oz. Throughout the conflict, Sabah also played a key role in executing numerous terrorist attacks against IDF forces. Before carrying out the strike, the IDF ensured that several measures were taken to reduce civilian harm, including the use of accurate munitions, intelligence gathering, and aerial surveillance.
