asiana-crash-san-franciscoThis crash investigation is going to be missing one essential piece of evidence. The pilots on Asiana Airlines Flight 214, which crash-landed at San Francisco International Airport on Shabbos were not tested for drugs or alcohol following the accident, because federal regulations do not extend to foreign pilots.

Not only had the plane’s automated landing system malfunctioned, but the pilots didn’t discuss the problem, according to investigators.

It is known that the main pilot on the flight, Lee Hang-kook, had just 43 hours of experience flying the Boeing 777 and was on his first flight into SFO. Two flight attendants were ejected from the plane and survived, Associated Press reported. Read more at USA Today.
