In a well-coordinated effort and thorough investigation, authorities have taken a suspect into custody on Thursday in connection with a recent stabbing incident in Crown Heights. The attack occurred on December 9th, as the victim was walking while carrying a suitcase. Without warning, the suspect launched an assault, stabbing the man on the steps of Rubashkin’s residence on President Street. According to reports, the assailant chillingly declared, “There’s no one here to help you,” before stabbing the frum man in the neck in a completely unprovoked act of violence.

Shmira responded swiftly after receiving an emergency call about the stabbing. They immediately took measures to stem the victim’s bleeding, coordinated with Hatzalah for medical assistance, contacted law enforcement, and initiated a search for the attacker.

Through diligent efforts, Shmira managed to secure a photograph of the suspect, analyze surveillance footage to trace his movements, and collect critical details that led to the individual’s identification. They worked hand in hand with NYPD detectives, maintaining close cooperation on a daily basis to advance the investigation.

Nearly two weeks after the brutal incident, Shmira members utilized the intelligence gathered to locate the suspect. He was spotted walking within the Crown Heights area, where he had been concealing himself. Acting promptly, Shmira alerted the NYPD, who arrived and placed the suspect under arrest.

“Shmira would like to thank the community for submitting tips and leads, the NYPD’s detective squad and public safety officers, 71st Precinct CO Thomas Smith and his entire outstanding team, and our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to help apprehend the suspect,” stated a spokesperson for Shmira.
