The Baltimore Police Department descended upon Yeshiva Lane in Baltimore this morning to investigate an attempted attack on a senior Rabbi on the Ner Yisrael campus.

The incident took place early this morning when a car driven by a former Ner Yisrael student rammed into the vehicle of a faculty member at the school. As the attacker prepared to strike again, the man was able to exit the vehicle and find safety in the Yeshiva building.

The driver then sped around campus in his car, chasing another faculty member before fleeing the scene. Police arrived at the campus within minutes and were able to track down  the driver and place him into custody where he is currently being questioned.

Ner Yisrael released a statement to give an update on the situation and to thank the police department for their swift response.

“This morning there was an incident on our campus with a former student. We are working closely with Captain Brandon Rodgers and his wonderful team from the Baltimore County Police Department, Pikesville Precinct to resolve this matter. Thank G-d, no one was injured during this incident”

  1. Attempted car ramming? Makes it sound like he tried but didn’t hit anything. He rammed a car hard with the driver inside and almost killed a bunch of people. Nothing short of a neis that no one was killed. Let’s not have too much rachmanus here by trying to play it down! Let’s call it what it was- an attempted homicide!

    • There were multiple clear witnesses, I talked to multiple people on Yeshiva Ln and know a person that’s there and saw the car by the dorms BEFORE he went by the apartments. I know all of the Rebbeim that were attempted to be hit, and learn with one of their sons. This really happened.

  2. This is nothing compared to what happened decades ago when a guy pulled out a knife in the Beis Medrash. Oldtimers won’t forget that one.

    • Knife? Big deal. Rabbi Avigdor Miller relates a story in a sefer published after his death that a talmid in Slobodka of old pulled a hand gun in the bais medrash, threatened the Rosh Yeshiva, and gave a communist drasha holding his gun in his hand. He didn’t suffer from corona. His sickness was more lethal.

    • I was there. All he wanted was more challa and margerine. When there is a big crowd you need a big knife. It’s physics.

  3. In truth there were many witnesses and the story is accurate. The person clearly tried to drive into people even driving a hill off the road to ram into someone. Bchasdei Hashem no one was injured. It was mamash a nes.

  4. This has been one of the most entertaining comments thread I have read in a long time! And no loshon horah and childishkeit! thank you
