bmg-mesibas-preidah[Audio below.] As reported earlier this week exclusively on Matzav.com, Beth Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, NJ, on Sunday night, held a mesibas preidah for Rav Yehudah Jacobs, a mashgiach at the yeshiva for decades who is moving to Eretz Yisroel. See the full report here. For a related report, see here.

Due to hundreds of requests, we present the full audio of two of the four drashos delivered at the event. The first is the drasha of the rosh hayeshiva, pe’er haTorah, Maran Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, and the second is the drasha of Rav Yehudah Jacobs.

  1. With sadness we say godbye. How many marriges did this mashgeish save, and how many people did he help…. it brings tears to mt eyes so hear he is leaving Lakewood.

  2. This is one of the Gedolei Hador and we are about to lose him. What a loss for Klal Yisarel. He’s so humble most of your readers probably dont even know that he was the mashgaich In Lkaewood Yeshiva. for I alwys felt like he was our best kept secret and now he’s going. RIBBONO SHEL OLAM HELP Please send a replacement .

  3. > “What a loss for Klal Yisarel.” (commenter no. 6)

    >> You’ve got to be kidding! The Rav is making Aliyah in both gashmius and ruchnius to Eretz HaKodesh…and you call this a “loss” to Klal Yisrael? Gevalt…what a golus mentality. How self-centered can you get, to think that a loss to Lakewood is a loss to Klal Yisrael?
Baruch Hashem, Klal Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael will GAIN immeasurably by the Rav’s coming home. You don’t need a replacement for Rav Jacobs in Lakewood…you need to follow his lead and come home to where all bnei Torah now belong.

  4. The comment from “Aliya Now” is on the mark, while “Rosh Yeshiva” was not justified in calling Rav Jacob’s aliya “a loss for Klal Yisrael”.
Gedolei rishonim & achronim rule that permanently changing one’s home from chutz laaretz [US, Europe, etc.] to Israel today is a kiyum of a mitzva {aliya} not just moving. Some even rule that if you can afford it, it is a mitzva chiuvis [requirement].
