An audio recording has surfaced in which former President Donald Trump appears to discuss classified material in July of 2021 regarding a potential military strike against Iran. CNN obtained the two-minute recording on Monday, capturing Trump, 77, shuffling through papers and addressing a supposed plan devised by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley for launching an attack against Iran. Trump acknowledges the information’s classified nature, describing it as “highly confidential” and “secret.”

On the recording, Trump’s distinctive voice can be heard saying, “Well, with Milley – let me see that. I’ll show you an example.” He then proceeds to mention that there was a claim that he wanted to attack Iran while displaying what appears to be the classified document. Trump emphasizes, “This is off the record,” as he continues discussing the sensitive material. He attributes the content to the Defense Department and Milley, distancing himself from its creation. The conversation reportedly took place at Trump’s Bedminster, N.J., golf club during a meeting with individuals involved in writing Mark Meadows’ autobiography, Trump’s former White House chief of staff.

A redacted transcript of the recording was included in special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment against Trump and serves as a crucial piece of evidence in the government’s case against the former president. The indictment accuses Trump of willfully retaining national defense information after leaving office. Smith notes that none of the participants in the conversation, including a writer, a publisher, and two members of Trump’s staff, possessed a security clearance.

During the two-minute audio recording, Trump and a staffer, purportedly his communications aide Margo Martin, engage in banter about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, which is not transcribed in the indictment. Trump’s staffer mentions Clinton’s habit of printing out emails, to which Trump jokingly responds, referencing Anthony Weiner, the former Democratic congressman whose laptop was found to contain thousands of Clinton’s emails.

Returning to the discussion of the alleged Iran attack plan, Trump remarks, “See as president, I could have declassified it. Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.” His staffer expresses concern, prompting Trump to find it interesting. He concludes by asking someone to bring some Coca-Cola before the audio ends.

The indictment against Trump consists of 37 counts, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, concealing a document in a federal investigation, scheming to conceal a document or record, and making false statements. Trump has strongly denied any wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

  1. As the rest of us learned when Hillary, Obama, and Bill Clinton took documents, which seems not to bother you, there is a way that documents are treated and stamped etc when they are classified. If these documents didn’t say that, then the mere fact that he said they are secret etc means absolutely nothing.

Just one question, is Charlatan Hall writing, should I say copying and pasting, for you guys now?

  2. Get the gross news off. Donald is the most crossed cinged ex-president.

The DNC fears him so much that they would voyage to the sun and back to make a prosecution.
