Yasher koiach!
Eizen!!!!
Rav Mintz is an odom choshuv and I’m sure his words are directed at those who act inappropriately after drinking. Worth mentioning, though, that the minhag to drink on ST is an old Yiddishe minhag, R’ Sholom Schwadron followed it. It was practiced in the prewar European yeshivos such as Volozhin as well, and there are those of the current Roshei Yeshiva in America who drink even to the point of inebriation on ST.
hollilus has no place on Simchas Torah, it does not have a place on Purim either.
Who was the first to confuse this Chag with Purim?
great point. while there is much foolishness on S.T. i view it as peoples own way of being happy and expressing joy. if they would heed these words they may have a different approach and appreciation for S.T. as for drinking it was the minhag hayeshivos to drink, and duchening was either canceled or done by shachris or earley mussaf, which shows the imprtance of this minhag. i see so many middle age people standing on the sidelines kvetching, maybe a l’chaim is what they need.
