swine-flu9Matzav.com has learned that Barkai Yeshiva in Boro Park, which serves the Syrian frum community, will remain closed until after Shavuos due to possible swine flu detected on the yeshiva grounds. Matzav.com has been told that barring any unforeseen complications, the yeshiva will reopen after the Yom Tov.

This news comes on the heels of the closings of several Brooklyn schools and yeshivos, including Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel, which reopened today, as well as Yeshiva Magen David, Yeshiva Shaarei Torah, and Mesoras Bais Yaakov.

A Flatbush askan has told Matzav.com that it is important to note that the aforementioned school closings have all been precautionary in nature due to the recent swine flu outbreak and the spreading of the disease in New York City. People should not overreact or otherwise cause panic, the askan cautioned.
