Hodaya Biton a”h was a strong, kind, and loving member of klal yisroel, a true “bas melech” who had the courage & strength to raise two children alone. In recent months, Hodaya moved from the north of Israel to Bnei Brak, to be closer to Ichilov’s oncology unit. She was tended to by son Nahor and daughter Sapir until her final days. The children were devastated by their loss last month, and are now each other’s only immediate family.
Nahor, now a chassan, recently made the news as a group of yeshiva students teamed up to raise money for his wedding preparations. The young chassan & kallah are severely poor, and have nearly no possessions. Donations are being collected to help the couple purchase basic wedding necessities. Each contribution helps to fill the gaping hole left behind by grief, and escorts them to their chuppah with a much-needed sense of dignity. This is a beautiful tribute to Hodaya a”h, who, if she were alive, would surely have done all she could to marry off her children.
