Born in Czechoslovakia on Yud Gimel Teves in 1933, he was a son of Rav Avrohom Shmuel Binyomin Sofer zt”l, author of Shevet Sofer, who was a son of the Daas Sofer.

Rav Simcha Bunim led his kehillah at the Pressburg shul in Givat Shaul, and was well-known for his weekly Friday night drashos that captivated and inspires his listeners.

He leaves behind him a large family of talmidei chachomim who are following in his footsteps. His son, Rav Avrohom Shmuel Binyomin Sofer-Schreiber, Rosh Kollel of Bais Medresh Pressburg, will be stepping in to fill his place at the Pressburg mosdos.
