The Beit Shemesh municipality passed a new bylaw to legalize noise until 1:00 a.m. on festive days such as Purim, Lag Ba’omer and Chol Hamoed. The law authorizes the municipality to override regular noise regulations four days a year for special occasions such as a siyum Hashas.
A preamble to the bill explained that the municipality invested money and effort for Simchas Beis Hashoeivah gatherings last Sukkos, yet was forced to halt the festivities at 11:00 after people complained about the noise.
