Associates of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir indicated today that he plans to vote against the proposed hostage agreement, arguing that the deal’s inclusion of convicted terrorists makes it unacceptable.

“From the outset, we’ve said that leaving anyone behind is unacceptable, and partial deals are a disaster,” the sources said.

According to those close to him, Ben Gvir maintains that the only effective way to bring the hostages home is by ramping up military operations and completely halting humanitarian supplies to Gaza. Although the latest proposal reportedly calls for the release of all remaining hostages, the minister remains firmly opposed because of what he views as excessive compromises.

The sources also noted that Ben Gvir has no intention of quitting the coalition at this stage. His primary condition, they stressed, is the total elimination of Hamas. If the group is permitted to survive in any political, military, or civilian form, they said, Ben Gvir would be unable to stay in the government.

“Ben Gvir is expected to tell the Prime Minister during their meeting: If Hamas continues to exist, in any form, that’s a red line. We will not remain in the government,” his associates said.
