Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said on Wednesday night during a CNN interview that “a lot of people” would love to pay more in taxes if it meant that they got government-run health care.

“I suspect that a lot of people in the country would be delighted to pay more in taxes if they had comprehensive health care as a human right,” Sanders responded. “I live 50 miles away from the Canadian border. You go to the doctor any time you want. You don’t take out your wallet. You have heart surgery, you have a heart transplant and you come out of the hospital and it costs you nothing.”

“At the end of the day, I think, that most people will believe they will be better off when their kids have educational opportunities without out of pocket expenses and when they have health care as a human right and they have affordable housing, when they have decent retirement security, I think most Americans will understand that is a good deal.”

  1. Check again, Bernie. You can NOT go to the doctor any time you want. You have to wait until he is available to see you. How long is the wait time to see one? And for something as complex as a heart transplant, the wait will be longer than a person who needs a heart can afford to wait.

  2. With so many politicians gone from the public, with many of them replaced with look-alikes and clones to fool the sheeple, how do we know that this guy is not Bernie’s replacement? Even if he’s not, because of his corruptions and his wife’s corruptions, we can presume that he’ll soon to be arrested.

  3. Bernie please please don’t use Canadian healthcare as an example it is an utter disaster with major deterioration in the quality and availability…. this Bernie is not only crazy but also dangerous

  4. No thanks. I’ll keep my tax money and my own (mighty expensive – thanks to Obamacare) private health insurance. Stay out of my wallet, and out of my health care!

  5. Dear People Who Would Be Delighted To Pay More In Taxes:

Feel free to donate to the government. I do not mind, in fact, I would be grateful. Perhaps I do not agree with your outlook, but I respect people of integrity.

Problem is, Bernie Sanders statement actually means “A lot of people in the country would be delighted THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS FORCED to pay more in taxes”. And this I do not like.

  6. I’m more than happy to give you a million dollars if you’ll give me two million. Also, I have a fantastic bridge to sell. It’s yuuuge, and worth Billions and Billions.
