Senator Chuck Grassley released a significant FBI informant file on Thursday, containing allegations of a $10 million bribery scheme involving President Biden and his son Hunter, the NY Post reports. According to the redacted FD-1023 form, Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma Holdings, a natural gas company, claimed he was “coerced” into making the payment to Joe and “stupid” Hunter Biden.

The FBI informant, a Ukrainian-American with a long history of credibility and trustworthiness, had four conversations with Zlochevsky, the first taking place in 2015 or 2016 near Kyiv, and the last being a phone call in 2019. During these discussions, Zlochevsky implicated both Hunter Biden and Joe Biden, stating that it cost $5 million to pay each of them.

Zlochevsky allegedly possessed 17 recordings of conversations involving the Bidens, along with numerous text messages and financial records related to the payments. He claimed that the bribes were made to ensure the firing of Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

The informant indicated that Alexander Ostapenko, an individual associated with the administration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was present during all these conversations, potentially serving as a supporting witness.

In a meeting in Vienna in 2016, Zlochevsky mentioned that Hunter was a conduit to his father, implying his influence in dealing with issues related to Burisma and the investigation conducted by Shokin.

The Biden administration and Hunter Biden’s legal team have not yet responded to these allegations. President Biden has dismissed the accusations, asking, “Where’s the money?”

House Republicans are conducting an investigation into references on Hunter Biden’s laptop, suggesting that Burisma opened a bank account in Malta in 2016.

The FBI has referred the bribery tip to the Delaware US Attorney David Weiss for further investigation, but it’s uncertain what progress has been made in verifying its accuracy.

Senator Grassley raised concerns about the Justice Department and FBI’s handling of the information, questioning why they concealed it from Congress and the public.

Given the potential implications of these allegations, some Republican members of Congress have discussed the possibility of impeaching President Biden if corroborating evidence is found. FBI Director Christopher Wray allowed members of the House Oversight Committee to read the document after initial resistance from the bureau. Read more.
