President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris hosted a “family” Chanukah celebration at the White House on Wednesday, where more than 150 guests joined together to commemorate the fourth night of Chanukah, The Hill reports.

Biden, Harris and their spouses — including Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, the first Jewish spouse of a president or vice president — gathered with Cabinet members, lawmakers, Jewish community members and Israeli ambassador to the U.S. Michael Herzog in the East Wing of the White House.

More than 150 people were in attendance, according to The Associated Press.

Emhoff, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Rabbi Dr. Aaron Glatt and Susie Stern lit the candles on the menorah, which the National Museum of American Jewish History lent to the White House.

Masked guests gathered in the East Room sitting shoulder-width apart from each other. The event did not feature a reception with food and drinks after the festivities. Instead, attendees reportedly went home with individually wrapped cookies from the White House kitchen.

  1. The 4th night? Could have waited one more night and give Chanukah gelt! If you remember when President Trump had this gathering, a more representative group of Jewish leaders and fans of the president showed up and it was quite impressive.

  2. During Biden’s comments, he once again couldn’t say properly (even with a teleprompter) the words to the Declaration of Independence. The previous time, he said “…you know the thing,” and this time he stopped with the words ‘endowed by” and couldn’t bring himself to continue the phrase with the words ‘their Creator.’ That’s a Freudian slip because his actions show he is not a man of faith. Unfortunately, it’s back to women rabbis at the White House Chanukah ceremony. What a farce. First, she motioned to the audience to clap for the president, then she quoted the words “Nes Gadol Haya Po” meaning that it’s a miracle for Jews to celebrate Hanuka here at the White House, and finallly, she inserted politics into the equation when at the end, she said “Let us Build Back Better.” Just sickening.

  3. I wish I would not have eaten my breakfast before reading this. Now I am nauseous.
These people make the Yavanim look like tzaddikim. It was like the official gathering of the moshav laitzim.

    • We’ll said, NY. Somewhere someone reported that Glatt made a kiddush Hashem by not reciting the brachos, ie following Halacha. That’s all very nice, but a true Kiddush HaShem would have been to turn down the invitation…

  4. A woman Rabbi is the guy serious? Making a total joke out of Judaism? Mr. Emhoff should please take that yarmulke off his head he’s embarrasing all of Klal Yisrael. Nauseous

    • The Dan licaf zchus crowd is in the process of bending over backwards and twisting themselves into pretzels to find something good about Mr. Emhoff throwing off the heavy yoke of the Torah and Intermarrying
