President Joe Biden on Thursday reiterated his commitment to secure the release of all the hostages being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“We’re working around the clock – together with our partners in the Middle East – to secure the release of hostages, including American citizens being held by Hamas, and the safe passage of Americans out of Gaza,” he wrote on X.
“We will not stop until we get them home,” stressed Biden.
In an earlier post, Biden commented on the importance of humanitarian aid continuing to enter Gaza.
“It is important to continue to get humanitarian aid – food, water, and medical supplies – to innocent people in Gaza,” wrote Biden.
“That flow needs to increase, and we are working hard to make that happen,” he added.
Biden spoke to Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu on Monday, hours after the release of Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz by Hamas.
In that conversation, the President “reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing efforts to secure the release of all the remaining hostages taken by Hamas – including Americans – and to provide for safe passage for US citizens and other civilians in Gaza,” the White House said in a statement.
The two leaders, who have remained in regular contact since the start of the fighting against Hamas on October 7, spoke again on Wednesday, and Biden “discussed ongoing US support for the continuous flow of humanitarian support to the civilian population in Gaza and welcomed efforts to increase this support over the coming period,” said the White House.
