In a joint press conference with Japan’s prime minister, President Joe Biden made a slip-up, humorously referring to himself as being “in the 20th century” instead of the 21st century.

Towards the conclusion of the press briefing, a journalist queried Biden about the recent ruling by the Arizona Supreme Court. The ruling upheld an 1864 law that would prohibit abortion in the state unless the mother’s life is at immediate risk.

The reporter asked Biden how he would address the people of Arizona concerning the enforcement of a law dating back to the Civil War era.

In response, Biden initially quipped, “Elect me. I’m in the 20th century,” quickly correcting himself to “21st century.” He added, “Not back then. It weren’t even a state” when the law was enacted, noting that Arizona achieved statehood in 1912.

Later, the President tackled a question regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He suggested that the war in Ukraine could conclude if the House leader allows a vote on providing additional aid to the country.
