Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden appeared to walk back his pledge to institute a nationwide mask mandate to fight the coronavirus on Sunday, noting that such federal action goes against the U.S. Constitution.

“Well, I hope you could trust the governors,” Biden said when asked about the issue Sunday on AZFamily’s “Politics Unplugged.”

But, he added, “There’s a constitutional issue whether federal government could issue such a mandate. I don’t think constitutionally they could, so I wouldn’t issue a mandate.”

Still, he said, the federal government should issued national guidelines for the state and local governements to follow, and that he would “plead with” people to wear masks to protect their neighbors from the virus.

  1. Basically he just peddles whatever opinion seems to be the going favourite.

Indeed, that is his entire campaign strategy – hide away in his basement (literally) until Trump says anything that the public media decides to take umbrage with, and then he pokes his head out to pledge the opposite.

Corona’s the best thing that could’ve happened for his campaign, as his plan is working as best as his campaign could’ve hoped for.

Trump will still win by a landslide though.

  2. This brain dead clown is totally without a conscience. The vicious attacks from his co-conspirators on the President for not issuing such a mandate require an apology. But you can bet your life that no such apology will ever come from the mouths of these evil, corrupt socialists. Meanwhile, not one of them can point to anything that is consistent with morality or the betterment of the country in their positions. They deserve all the hate we can muster. I wish all of these Dems a speedy retirement from politics with landslide, embarrassing losses at the polls.

  3. It probably would be constitutional as an emergency measure. During wartime and even occasionally in peacetime we have had far more draconian measures including blackout and driving restrictions.

Unfortunately, it has been proven that you can’t trust a lot of the governors, particularly the ones in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, South Dakota, Texas, and Arizona. They are pro-death.

    • There is already a draconian measure in place. With the current prevalence rate, those who don’t wear a mask get infected with the disease. And they can’t blame anyone but themselves.

  4. I agree with Mr. Biden on this one. It’s too bad the Johnny come lately, Vinishmartem experts are aghast about this turn around.
