The Israeli Justice Ministry is working on controversial legislation to build a database of people entering and leaving Israel.
The purpose of the database will be to fight terrorism, but it may also be used to combat organized crime and drug smuggling or to prevent diseased people entering Israel during epidemics. Similar systems exist in dozens of countries, including the US.
“There are laws of nature regarding such databases,” Prof. Michael Birnhack of Tel Aviv University warned. “One is that they will sooner or later leak. The second is that even though there is one declared purpose for the database, it will quickly be used for other purposes.”

I don’t like when a government spies on its people and its guests.
The database already exists, ask anyone who dealt with Israel’s interior ministry.
All other countries keep databases in the same manner. You want to travel, forget privacy.
You’re right. Precisely the reason for Edward Snowden, whistleblower behind the NSA surveillance, is in hiding.
