A major fire ravaged a bais medrash at Camp Maminim in Swan Lake, in the Catskills, on Erev Shabbos.
The blaze erupted shortly before Shabbos at the camp on Laymon Road, prompting a massive response from numerous firefighters and fire trucks.
The fire completely destroyed the building, including over 250 pairs of tefillin stored inside.
In a letter to camp parents, Rabbi Yosef and Aliza Wartelsky, the camp owners, assured them that “B”H everyone is accounted for and safe and nobody was in the building.”
Rabbi Wartelsky explained that while the building is not frequently used, it serves as the shul for Camp Chaveirim. All members of Camp Chaveirim were confirmed to be safe.
Rabbi Wartelsky emphasized, “Please understand that we are taking care of each camper and staff member and will continue to communicate via emails.”
Over 210 pairs of tefillin have already been donated to replace the ones that were destroyed.
If anyone has a pair of tefillin that they can lend or donate , please PM 732-877-9600 as soon as possible.

This story is very misleading.
Building is not frequently used… but used as a shul??
Dont they dave 3 times daily?
i believe what he means is that there are 2 different camps renting parts of the campus.
chaveirim uses it as shul. this person is the director of the other camp and they rarely use that building
Moderator please change that to daven 3 times daily
There’s no fast scheduled because of this?
Stop with the candles for the sabbath use electric lights it’s safer the arrogance of these people and the destruction caused by their haphazard feelings towards me are unbelievable. This is True negligence and all the emails sent to everybody, including myself are not meaningful. Stop the chaos stop the malarkey.
