bloombergNew York – Fed up with repeated questions from reporters about a $500,000 consultant’s report on the shortcomings of the 911 system, Mayor Bloomberg disclosed yesterday that he never read it.

The surprising admission came after the mayor was asked about a claim in the study that erroneous data had been provided to city officials.

“I can’t answer because I don’t know what they’re talking about,” Bloomberg responded. “In the end there’s no evidence, whatsoever. They can make up anything they want to say.”

When one reporter persisted and said, “It sounds like what you’re saying is that some of the information in the report is incorrect,” she was interrupted by the mayor.

“I didn’t say that,” he declared. “I didn’t even bother to read it. So I can’t tell you that.”

The mayor said the bottom line was that response times to fire emergencies are faster than ever and that crime is at record low levels.

“You are safer than ever before no matter what you want to write,” he told the reporter, Samantha Gross of the Associated Press.

The administration released the 911 report after weeks of refusing to make public what it called a working “draft.”

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, who had previously called for all the paperwork to be released, questioned why Bloomberg wouldn’t want to see what his own consultant had come up with.

“If a document that outlines how well the city is saving lives isn;t important reading material, I’m not sure what is,” Stringer said.

  1. The arrogance shown by this illigitimate Mayor, is astounding! He has surrounded himself in a Protected circle, of “yes” men! He is completely out of touch with the average New Yorker! He can’t get out of here fast enough!
