bloomberg2New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says schools will be open tomorrow.┬áThe nation’s largest school system of 1.1 million students had a rare snow day today, its third in six years.

Bloomberg says the city has been working overtime to clear streets and that all major thoroughfares will be clear in the morning.

Officials believe conditions will improve as snow tapers through toward midnight.

By early afternoon, more than 7 inches had fallen in parts of the Bronx, 5 inches in Central Park, more than 8 inches in parts of Suffolk County and 10 inches in Spring Valley in Rockland County.

The wild winds and swirling snow seemed like the perfect reason to stay home.

  1. I disagree with the decision of the mayor to open the public schools tomorrow. It affects me because my place of work is only closed for bad weather if the public schools are closed and in my opinion it won’t be safe for pedestrians who have to walk to buses and trains until Friday because the sanitation still has to clear the walk ways for pedestrians to walk safe without having to step over big mounds of snow. I feel the mayor should keep the schools closed until Friday.

    • I agree
      I think it is insane
      All westchester schools are closed
He is putting children, teachers and parents in danger
Why do people give him so much power

  2. I Couldn’t Agree More With Sal Blandino, My Children Attend, Public Schools, Which Are Not In The Vicinity,In Which I Reside,Yet On Days Like Tomorrow, Which Are Already HAlf A Day Like Every Friday, Classes Will Be In Session That’s Foolishness,I Understand That Last Week, Was Midterm Recess, But When The Wheather, Is Bad As It Is Now Classes, Should Not Be In Session.

  3. That is completely absurd- how are outer borough families supposed to get their kids into the city to school? Even if a few subway lines are open there will be massive delays and it will take hours. Bad decision making.

  4. I totally disagree with the mayor what if
people get stuck on the road and it will
cause traffic if I get stuck I will blame on
    the mayor.

  5. I also disagree the major opening schools tomorrow. The streets are going be slippery the air ice cold. It seems he don’t care if a student falls and ends up in hospital. Most kids go to a school far from there home these students won’t be able make it to school at 8am
