NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s whereabouts during the December blizzard – and the widely criticized clean-up effort – have prompted a new level of scrutiny on the New York City mayor’s whereabouts.
The City Council may take up a measure to require notification when the mayor leaves town.
1010 WINS’ Stan Brooks reports from City Hall where Mayor Michael Bloomberg was reassuring New Yorkers that he’s always in control
The Wall Street Journal reports that Bloomberg’s fleet of private planes made 16 trips to Bermuda in 2010. Bloomberg owns a home there.
In total, the planes have flown to Bermuda 54 times from 2007 through 2010, the Journal reports. One of those trips coincided with the December blizzard that swamped the city, the paper reported. The plane had apparently took off for Bermuda and returned the following day before 3 p.m.
While the Federal Aviation Administration keeps logs of the flights, which the Journal reviewed, it’s not possible to tell who was aboard the planes.
“The mayor has to be able to have a private life and not disclose where he is,” Bloomberg told reporters Monday. “We set a policy day one, we’re going to tell you whenever there’s a public event and I can guarantee that the mayor is always in control.”
“I can’t think of any time in the last nine years when I wasn’t a phone call or e-mail away,” he added.

Now if we could only could have a tool to keep track of all the “official” people in the knesset
The Mayor should take a one way flight to Bermuda & leave us alone! He should take along his do nothing Chief of Police!
