NJ.com published an interview yesterday with Rabbi Aaron Kotler, the CEO, or menahel, of Bais Medrash Govoha.

The interview spans a number of topics, ranging from the burgeoning growth of the Lakewood township, the functions of the Lakewood Vaad and the rise of anti-Semitism in the United States in recent years.

“The heart of Talmudic literature is about respect, Kotler responded to questions about tensions that have accompanied the Orthodox community’s rapid growth in Lakewood. “There’s the famous story about Hillel the Elder, who was asked by a gentleman, “Can you teach me the entire Talmud on one foot?”

“And he said, ‘Yes: Do unto others as you would do unto yourself.’

“It’s really about respect. Respecting all that is precious, sacred and important in life.”
