His duties will include overlooking all Rabbinate supervised eateries and factories in the city. Rav Weiss was rov in Manchester before moving to Eretz Yisroel decades ago, and was recently appointed a member of the Chief Rabbinical Council.

I thought Hagaon Reb Moshe Landau is the Rabbi ?
HaRav M. Y. Landau is the Chief Rabbi of Bnei Brak.
R. Korach z”l was the official chief Rabbi.
R. Landau is recognized by some, but not all.
The decades he has been in EY were as Rav of Kfar Ha’roeh, a a longstanding dati leumi bastion. How does he come to BB??
I guess Rav Chaim didn’t want the job.
The Posek Hador Hagaon Hatzadik HaRav Moshe Landau Shlita is the Gaon Rosh Av Beis Din of BB.
The yemenite Rav that passed away and this temporary Rabbi are from the Rabbanut of the state that appoints Rabbis in every city.
There is no contradiction as it’s always been that way. For example in Yerushalayim there is a Mizrachi Rav from the Rabbanut and then there are the Gaavad and Raavad of Edah Hachareidis. Rav Weiss and Rav Moshe Shternbuch.
