monsey-policeA telephoned bomb scare last night forced the evacuation of the Spring Valley, NY, police department and several robbery suspects awaiting arraignment. The police received the threatening call just before 6:45 p.m. and called the Sheriff’s Department bomb squad.

Shortly after 7 p.m. patrol cars blocked motorists from entering the parking lot for Village Hall, the police station and businesses in the strip mall off Route 45.

By 7 p.m., Bomb Squad Detective Melissa Johnston had arrived with bomb-sniffing labrador Lollie and started searching inside and outside of the police department and Village Hall. They finished about an hour later.

“We found nothing,” said Sheriff’s Detective Lt. William Barbera.

The police went back inside and the three men were arraigned by Justice Alan Simon on felony charges of robbing a pizza delivery man on Wednesday night.
