george-zimmermanThe six women deliberating George Zimmerman’s fate have come to a decision.  The jury had been deliberating for 16 hours, including 13 today.

The decision of the six-women jury: Not guilty.

The jury asked about the manslaughter option and lawyers asked them for more detail. What the question meant to the case is not clear.

The jury had 3 options: guilty of 2nd-degree murder, guilty of manslaughter, or not guilty. They chose the latter.

After the jury found Zimmerman not guilty in the death of Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman, who faced the possibility of life in prison, showed no reaction.

Zimmerman’s parents were present in the courtroom, and his family members hugged. Some were in tears. Martin’s parents were not in the courtroom, and the Martin family lawyer Ben Crump quickly left.

Zimmerman, 29, was accused of second degree murder for shooting Martin, 17, on Feb. 26, 2012 in Sanford, Fla. Prosecutors accused Zimmerman of profiling Martin as a criminal and following him with a loaded gun, triggering the fatal confrontation. Zimmerman maintained that he shot Martin in self-defense after he was knocked to the ground and Martin was banging his head against the pavement.

  1. nebach the stress this man has gone through just for defending himself. Look at all the weight he gained.
The verdict was obvious. The Govt set up post all over the state and quiet protesting areas to prevent people from rioting and violence after the obvious verdict of NOT GUILTY!

  2. I heard someone on a radio call-in show say that if Zimmerman is acquitted, he will never be able to show his face out the door. the host told him that if he knew that someone had made specific threats he he had a legal and moral obligation to inform the police. of course, the caller would not name anyone specifically; however, I am certain that he is right. Sharpton and his ilk will not let it rest. altho many may not agree with the outcome, everything was done within the limits of the law, which is fine only if you agree with the law

  3. But the Shomrim guys from Baltimore were nearly incarcerated for much less an egregious outcome! This judicialyou system is great but nasty flaws exist: i.e. Rubashkin!
