Britain has announced the approval of a scientist’s application to edit the human genetic code.
Scientist Kathy Niakan’s new technique has some fearing that it crosses ethical boundaries.
Niakan will use the method to better understand the genes human embryos require to successfully develop, hopefully leading to treatments for muscular dystrophy and HIV. Chinese researchers made an attempt last year, but the experiment failed. Read more.
