erasmus-dov-hikindAssemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) had the highest praise for members of the New York City Fire Department and other first responders who were on the scene this morning as a huge fire raged at 1171 Ocean Parkway in the Midwood section of Brooklyn.

The fire broke out several minutes before 9 a.m. and the fire department responded immediately.

“Our fire fighters are the very best there are,” said the Assemblyman. “They risk their lives to save the lives of others and they did so once again this morning. This was a terrifying fire on a dangerously cold day. Thank G-d no lives were lost. Our communities owe a large debt of gratitude to these brave individuals.”

Deputy Chief Wayne Cartwright reported that there were eight minor injuries (three fire fighters and five civilians). Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze.

  1. I work at FDNY HQ two days a week. The courage of people who are willing to run into burning buildings to save lives of people they don’t even know is amazing. I am proud to support these heroes.
