Building Community in Response to Anti-Semitism

(May 7, 2019)—New York, NY—As anti-Semitic incidents rise to unprecedented heights in the United States, Touro College and University System is hosting a discussion on “Building Community in Response to Anti-Semitism.” This event is part of the Touro Presidential Lecture Series and will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 PM at Touro’s Lander College for Women on 227 West 60th Street in New York City.

The conversation between Touro President Dr. Alan Kadish and Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Shlita,  world-renowned rabbi and personal secretary to the Lubavitcher Rebbe, z”tl, will cover wide-ranging topics including: the current Jewish renaissance in the U.S. and Israel, why Jewish observance is growing despite anti-Semitism, and the correct response to hatred and terrorism.

“Rabbi Yehudah Krinsky has remained one of the most influential figures within the Chabad movement,” said Dr. Kadish. “His dedication to spreading the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe continue to shine a light even during the darkest moments when selfless shluchim and their families have been victims of terror. I greatly look forward to hosting Rabbi Krinsky at Touro where he will share his experiences and words of Torah.”

Across the nation, anti-Semitic incidents are reaching historic levels. In 2018, there were 1,879 recorded attacks against Jews and Jewish institutions, according to the Anti-Defamation League. This comprises the third highest year on record since the 1970s, when the ADL first began tracking anti-Semitic attacks.

“While the alarm bells of recent events are still ringing, and we continue to call upon leaders from across all political divides to stop the dangerous, downward spiral of anti-Semitism, we cannot cease to fulfill our own missions: acts of kindness, boundless Ahavas Yisroel,” said Rabbi Krinsky.
