Former US vice-president Joe Biden has topped a poll of Iowa voters on Saturday that also showed Senator Bernie Sanders gaining momentum against him in the number two spot.

Biden, who has not announced whether he is running in the 2020 election, is the first choice for president of likely Iowa Democratic caucus-goers with 27% in the Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom Iowa Poll. Sanders, 77, got 25%.

The newspaper’s Iowa poll has a long track record of relative accuracy in the state that kicks off the presidential nominating process. In this cycle, Iowa will hold the first contest in the Democratic race in February 2020.

  1. (Big League Politics) – Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives voted against a Republican motion in HR1 proceedings that would have recognized that illegal aliens voting inherently undermines the votes of U.S. citizens.
“House defeats GOP MTR to HR1 on near party line vote expressing the sense of Congress that allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote devalues the franchise and diminishes the voting power of United States citizens. 6 Democrats voted Yes and 1 Republican voted No,” Craig Caplan said on Twitter.
In effect, 228 Democrats in the House voted in favor of letting illegal aliens to vote. One Republican, Justin Amash of Michigan, also voted in favor of the motion.
