The Democratic governors of New York and California signed into law Monday bills raising the minimum wage in their states to $15 per hour.

Under his Gov. Jerry Brown’s plan, California’s hourly minimum wage would increase from $10 to $10.50 in 2017, then by another $1 annually until 2022. Meanwhile in New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s signature will get workers in New York City to $15 per hour by the end of 2018, with the exception of businesses with 10 or fewer employees, which will have about four years to implement the increase.

Long Island and Westchester County won’t have to reach the $15 figure for up to six years. Areas north of Westchester are only required to hit $12.50 by 2021. Read more at the Los Angeles Times.

  1. what a bunch of fools. this will only cause companies that do not have pricing power to either fire workers or close up. prices on goods and services will rise thereby making that $15/hr worth less. The govt is the biggest causer of inflation

  2. All Democratic led cities have gone down the drain. They don’t care about businesses but just want to show off to the welfare crowd that votes for them. Remember Detroit, Baltimore, St. Louis, Cleveland, Philadelphia and other places and check their economic record and see blatantly that the Democrats are a disaster for the economy.

  3. This idiot is going to tank the economy. Yes, unemployment will shoot thru the roof. These stupid Liberals never think or care about the consequences of their bleeding heart policies.
