Camp Bnos, located in Liberty in the Catskill Mountains, has been shut down after two of its campers tested positive for coronavirus.
While Camp Bnos usually operates as a sleepaway camp, it was designated as a day camp this year due to New York State Covid-19 restrictions barring sleepover camps.
In a letter shared with parents, Camp Bnos said that on the advice of medical professionals and their rabbinic leadership, it was ending the program early due to two confirmed positive cases of the virus in the camp. The administrators did not specify whether the positive cases were campers or staff members.
The camp said that anyone who had come in contact with the infected individuals were sent home with orders to quarantine for 14 days.
The camp said it had not yet determined whether they will open for the second half of summer.
