A newly surfaced document has sparked considerable concerns about US taxpayer money being directed towards a scientist based in Wuhan, who was conducting research on bat coronaviruses. This has led to speculation about possible links to the onset of COVID-19.
The document, which was obtained by @WhiteCoatWaste through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, reveals that the US government, under the Biden administration, allocated over $40 million in funding through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in its research on the emergence of bat coronaviruses. These funds were specifically intended for a project that focused on assessing the risks associated with bat-related coronaviruses.
What raises additional alarm is the fact that the scientist involved in this research later became known as “patient zero” for COVID-19, further fueling ongoing speculation about the virus’s origin.
The financial support, which concluded in 2019, has prompted questions about the timeline of US assistance and its potential link to the COVID-19 outbreak that began in late 2019, which has resulted in millions of deaths and an unprecedented global health crisis.
The NIAID, under the leadership of Dr. Anthony Fauci, had previously faced intense scrutiny regarding its funding of controversial gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. This issue has been the subject of heated debate in both scientific and political circles for years.
The release of this document has brought the matter back into the public eye, renewing calls for transparency and a thorough investigation into whether US taxpayer dollars played a role in the research.
WhiteCoatWaste, a group focused on government oversight, has been actively investigating the US government’s spending on contentious biomedical research. They have been advocating for greater accountability and transparency regarding the use of taxpayer money in international scientific projects.
The disclosure that the US government, under the previous administration, funded potentially dangerous research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology has stirred further controversy, with prominent figures such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk demanding the arrest of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was then in charge of the NIAID.
In May, Lawrence Tabak, a senior official at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), testified before Congress, confirming that the NIH had indeed provided funding for gain-of-function research at the WIV.
Dr. Fauci, a key figure in the US response to the pandemic and the director of NIAID until his retirement in 2022, received both praise and criticism for his handling of the crisis. His advocacy for measures like social distancing, face masks, and vaccinations was hailed by many as crucial in combating the virus’s spread. However, he also faced backlash, notably from former President Donald Trump, who frequently disagreed with Fauci’s stance on the pandemic.
Despite facing significant opposition, Fauci remained resolute in his positions, publicly challenging Trump’s downplaying of the virus. He was a vocal critic of misinformation, especially concerning COVID-19 mitigation strategies. Fauci led NIAID for more than 38 years, becoming widely recognized for his contributions to global health, including efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, Ebola, and COVID-19.
The Wuhan Institute of Virology has come under intense scrutiny following suspicions that the COVID-19 virus may have accidentally leaked from the lab. The pandemic has led to over 1.1 million deaths in the US alone and caused widespread disruptions across social, educational, and economic sectors. While the origins of the virus remain unclear, the refusal of the Chinese government to allow an independent international investigation has only fueled speculation about its source.
Within the US, both the FBI and the Department of Energy have raised concerns about the possibility of a lab leak from Wuhan, although official investigations have yet to conclusively confirm the origin. While President Joe Biden has refrained from directly addressing the issue, former President Donald Trump has been outspoken in demanding reparations from China, suggesting a sum of $10 trillion.
As the debate continues over the origins of COVID-19, the role of US funding in the Wuhan research is once again under close scrutiny.
The Chinese government has recently rejected a claim from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that suggested COVID-19 likely originated from a laboratory in China. Mao Ning, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, dismissed the lab leak theory as “extremely unlikely.”
Mao pointed to the findings of the joint expert team from China and the World Health Organization (WHO), which had visited relevant laboratories in Wuhan, where the virus was first identified. The team concluded that the lab leak theory was highly improbable, and they suggested that the virus likely spread from animals to humans.
The CIA’s assessment, made public on January 25, reignited debates over the pandemic’s origins, with some intelligence officials now suggesting that a lab leak is a more plausible explanation than natural transmission.

“…reveals that the US government, under the Biden administration, allocated over $40 million in funding…”
Under the Biden administration? that was after Covid-19 emerged. Does this mean to say the Obama administration?
I think at this point we can start referring to Fauci as “disgraced former NIAID director Anthony Fauci”
No, stop. Our beloved all caring all loving government would never do anything unethical! Our beloved government would never lie to the American sheeple. Just follow the science and put on that blue flimsy disposable mask on.
Interesting that it took so many years to photoshop new lies about the fake virus which the US government masterminded, as was reported on their government site in Jan 2017, 3 years before they released it.
